The much-anticipated ninth generation Honda Civic will be making its first appearance at Bradley Honda, Dublin Road, Galway, this weekend.
The Civic will be on display on Friday afternoon from 4pm to 8pm, and on both Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm.
Already acclaimed by the international motoring press, the new Civic builds on the successes of the previous model, while addressing the criticisms, and will continue Honda’s progression towards modern premium.
The result, Honda says, is a “revolutionary evolution” in the car’s modern styling, excellent performance, and advanced technologies that makes it eco-friendly and more cost efficient to run.
Developed over four years, nearly all components are new to the Civic. It is available as a five-door model and there are 11 models from which to choose between petrol and diesel; four different grades and three different engines. Prices start from €20.995 for the i.4 SE petrol and from €23,995 for the SE diesel models.
The new Civic boasts new rear styling with bold rear lights creating a “wing” effect, and the overall impression is of a lower and wider aerodynamic monoform profile.
Its elegance is boosted by unifying all surfaces, including the wheel arches and the body.
Interior styling includes a new functional cockpit layout with full colour i-Mid TFT screen incorporating an eco driving support function, audio display and user support.
It boasts a newly designed steering wheel with easy operating controls, while its ‘magic seats’ have been retained.
Engine line-up
The new Civic is also one of the sector’s best in performance against low CO2 emissions.
The 2.2 litre i-DTEC diesel, which produces 110g/km of CO2 with 150PS and350Nm of torque, falls in the class A band. The 1.8 litre i-VTEC petrol, producing 135g/km of CO2 with 142PS at 6,500rpm and 174Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm, and the 1.4 litre i-VTEC petrol producing 129g/km of CO2 with 100PS and 127Nm at 4,800rpm, both come into the class B band.
Specification
The level of standard specification in the new Civic is very high. The SE model comes with 16” alloy wheels, vehicle stability assist, climate control air conditioning, electric windows, LED daytime running lights, electric heated mirrors, idle stop, CD radio with MP3, alarm, auxiliary and USB plug in points, hill start assist, remote audio controls, and guide-me-home headlamps. The Civic ES also boasts a reversing camera, cruise control with speed limiter, Bluetooth with HFT, auto lights, dual-zone climate control (1.8/2.2 only ), front fog lights, leather steering wheel, auto wipers, leather gear knob, and electrically retractable door mirrors.
The top of the range Civic EX also includes leather upholstery, premium audio, satellite navigation with upgraded dupont Kevlar speakers, heated front seats and video plug-in port.
