Christmas gigs at Campbell’s

QUEEN ELVIS, The Deans, Fruitcake Trio, and a pantomime are all on the bill for the Christmas gigs and events at Campbell’s Tavern, Cloughanover.

Christmas at Campbell’s will get off to a trad start tomorrow with Matt Cunningham and Family’s Home For Christmas concert at 9pm. The show is in aid of Ability West and special guests include John Duggan and All-Ireland sean nós dancing champion Padraig Hopkins.

On Saturday from 9.30pm, Queen Elvis will bring their acoustic soul folk with a jazz twist to the stage. The band are currently recording a new album and this year has seen their Little World EP receive airplay, particularly from The John Creedon Show on RTÉ Radio 1. Support is from Frolic Tree.

On Saturday the Cloughanover Music School students will perform a free all ages show at 3pm, while on Sunday at 6pm there will be the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, while Wednesday will see the Winter Solstice Christmas Trad Session at 10pm.

Athenry Blues rock band The Deans (see this week’s lead feature interview ) play on Thursday December 22 at 9.30pm. On Friday 23 Darragh Wynne will present a Christmas piano session from 10pm.

St Stephen’s Day will/ see The Leftovers Session where Noelie, Nicola, and Santa’s helpers join Joanna the Piana at 6.30pm while at 9.30pm The Tav Jam Band will be in concert.

On Wednesday 28 The Fruitcake Trio will play old time Americana at 9.30pm in the live area while in the front bar from 10pm there will be the Monster Trad Session. The Country Bluegrass Session with Noelie, Gert, and guests takes place on Thursday 29 at 10pm.

Campbell’s Tavern’s New Year’s Eve Party, Bringing It All Back Home, starts at 8.30pm and will feature the Front Bar Monster Trad Session, RockabillyTunes, and The Timbertramps to help see in 2012.
