Charity concert for Peruvian children’s home

GALWAY TRAD-fusion band The Rye and singer-songwriter Emmet O’Malley will play the HUAHUA: Music for the Children of Peru charity concert next week.

The concert takes place in Kelly’s, Bridge Street, next Wednesday at 8.30pm and all money raised goes toward the Hogar San Francisco de Asis, a home for sick and destitute children in Chaclacayo, Peru.

The home hosts children affected by diseases such as tuberculosis, leukaemia, cleft palate, malformed limbs, etc, and provides free medical care and education. It currently needs an elevator or stair lift, so wheelchair bound and paraplegic children can get up and down the stairs without having to be carried by a volunteer or one of the other patient.

The Rye play a lively fusion of Irish trad, country, reggae, folk, rock, blues, and soul. Emmet O’Malley and his band will perform songs from his debut album Playtime.

Tickets are €8/6. There will also be a DJ and a raffle with spot prizes. The event is organised by Atlantic Language Galway. For more information email [email protected]
