Hurling board convention on tonight in Athenry

The Galway Hurling Board will hold its annual convention tonight (Thursday ) at the Raheen Woods Hotel in Athenry.

All the 2011 officers will be returned unopposed. The biggest topic for discussion will be the motion proposing changes to the senior and intermediate club structures for 2012 as recommended by the review group in its recent report.

Another motion for discussion is one proposed by Gort that the intermediate Galway team be confined to players over the age of 21 and under the age of 28.

Treasurer John Mc Gann will be in a position tonight to confirm a net surplus for the year of €112,454.
