Home sweet home for the childen at St Bernadette’s ward

Hotel Meyrick, Galway’s four star hotel located in the heart of Eyre Square, will once again spread the Christmas cheer and donate a life size gingerbread house to the children of St Bernadette’s, the children’s ward in the University Hospital Galway.

Hotel Meyrick’s creative pastry team have designed a life size gingerbread house which is a veritable Christmas feast. The Gingerbread house is currently on display in the hotel’s elegant parlour lounge for all to see. The house is decorated like a winter wonderland with hand baked biscuits, icing snow and jewelled candy. It will be presented to the children in the university hospital on Christmas Eve as a special Christmas treat for children and their families who regrettably have to spend the holiday season in hospital. Christmas is a magical time of year for children and what better way to light up their imaginations than with a life size gingerbread house.

Families and guests are invited to savour the hotel’s famous afternoon tea in the modern Victorian surroundings of the opulent parlour lounge, while marvelling at the life size gingerbread house displayed in all its glory beside the hotel’s glistening Christmas tree. Afternoon tea is one of the most special dining experiences in the hotel and is served daily from 12pm to 6pm. Savour hand-cut sandwiches, homemade scones with cream preserves, delicious pastry creations including fruit tartlets, mille feuille, mince pies, cup cakes and fruit cake, accompanied with freshly brewed tea or coffee from only €19 per person.
