ST ANDREW was a Jew and member of the 12 Apostles but this Israeli is honoured by Christians as the patron saint of Scotland and his feast day is a ‘day of mischief’ in Poland.
The Granary Learning Centre and the Galway Irish Polish Association will host an Andrzejki (St Andrew’s Day celebration ) event for Galway on Sunday November 30 at the Granary Learning Centre, 58 Dominick Street.
Andrzejki is one of the most important and most mischievous celebrations in the Polish calendar. It’s a night when witches, ghosts, ghouls, and goblins are invited in to tell fortunes, cast spells, and encourage music and dancing.
There will be Polish food, games, and prizes including one term’s free attendance at any one of the GLC’s many language courses. The event will be held jointly in English and Polish and all nationalities are invited.
