POPULAR BRITISH TV presenter Phillip Schofield is helping launch Stagecoach Theatre Arts’ bid to beat its own Guinness World Record.
During December, Stagecoach Schools across the world - and that includes Galway - will stage the largest number of simultaneous performances of one show, entitled Glad Rags. This Guinness World Record attempt will also mark Stagecoach’s 20th anniversary as the world’s largest part-time performing arts school.
Galway Stagecoach students are currently rehearsing for the event which will take place at the Bank of Ireland Theatre, NUI, Galway on Saturday December 6. With this performance, Galway students are hoping to play their part in beating the Guinness World Record the held by Stagecoach since 1999 when it staged 100 simultaneous performances of The Rainbow Juggler and raised £60,000 for UNICEF.
This time Stagecoach is hoping to raise money this time for InterAct, its own charity which runs inclusive workshops for underprivileged and disadvantaged youngsters to develop and learn valuable skills for life through the performing arts at dedicated InterAct schools. Money raised from the Galway performance will also go to UNICEF.
