In a pulsating game that was a great advertisement for cup basketball, Moycullen defeated Neptune in the u-20 National Cup quarter-final in the Kingfisher Gym on Saturday.
Two young teams slugged it out in a nailbiting game that eventually saw the home side snatch victory in the last minute.
Moycullen enjoyed an excellent start and were 14 -3 up after five minutes. Neptune gradually clawed their way back into the game to take a two-point lead midway through the fourth quarter. Moycullen, however, dug deep to produce a fantastic team effort and, through a combination of excellent defensive work , their ability to finish some big shots under pressure, and a little bit of good fortune, they came through in the last minute to record a momentous win. It now sets up an intriguing derby with Maree in the cup semi final in mid Janurary.
