On Sunday, December 4, Christmas will be marked at Coole Park, with the lighting of a Christmas tree, and free Christmas treats.
Cepta Quinn, who runs the popular cafe at the visitor’s centre, says it was an ideal time and place to bring back the pleasure of Christmas in a house where children were happy. Coole Park was the home of Lady Augusta Gregory, whose grandchildren spent a happy childhood there.
One of those children, Anne Gregory, wrote about her childhood at Coole in her book: Me and Nu.
Ms Sheila O’Donnellan,. a founder of the Autumn gathering , will turn on the lights at the visitor’s centre on Sunday.
