Heart healthy options for Christmas

The festive season does not have to be about unhealthy excess and overindulgence — Galway’s Italian Olio & Farina store on Abbeygate Street has teamed up once again with local heart charity, Croí, to promote heart healthy eating this Christmas.

Olio & Farina, which specialises in top quality Italian cuisine, has specially prepared Christmas hampers which are in keeping with the heart healthy Mediterranean diet. The Mediterranean diet has been shown to have cardio-protective benefits and the hampers have been endorsed by a Croí dietitian.

Launching the Christmas hampers, Olio & Farina proprietors Liam and Maria Payne announced that they have specially put together a ‘heart healthy’ hamper where €10 of the purchase price will be donated directly to Croí in support of its work in the area of heart disease and stroke prevention.

Speaking at the launch of the Olio & Farina Heart Health Christmas Hamper, Croí CEO Neil Johnson expressed gratitude to Liam and Maria Payne for once again supporting Croí through this special Christmas promotion. “This is the third year that Olio & Farina have chosen to support us through the sale of their very popular Christmas hampers, which contain the finest ingredients and are consistent with a balanced and healthy diet,” Mr Johnson said. “The hampers make an ideal Christmas gift with the added value of directly supporting a local charity.”

So why not make a healthy choice this Christmas and support the fight against heart disease and stroke. For further details contact Olio & Farina, 50 Upper Abbeygate Street, Galway, phone (091 ) 539742.
