Spice up your wardrobe with fashion tights

For the past few years opaque tights have been a major trend, and they are still going strong this winter. Coloured tights can make a huge statement with vibrant hues of red, purple, or mustard. However sheer tights are back on trend thanks to style icon Kate Middleton, who has been wearing them for many occasions. With so much to choose from I am often asked what tights to wear with what. Here are some rules and style ideas on how to wear tights this winter.

Coloured tights are a great way to add drama to your look. Remember to balance the look with more subtle colours. A great way to wear coloured tights is with a neutral outfit and to introduce colour with an accessory or an inside layer. You could also match your shoes with your top. But if you want more drama, go for colour blocking and team bright tights with a contrasting coloured outfit, such as this ensemble from Penney’s teamed with red tights.

Why not make a funky statement with patterned tights, such as polka dots, lace, or checks — wear them with a solid or neutral colour top and shoes. Pair a red dress with black lace tights and black suede heels, a glamorous party look.

Black opaque tights will always make your legs longer and slimmer. Match them with black shoes for an ultra leg lengthening effect. If you want to stay away from black then grey, navy, or dark purple have the same lengthening effect. Brighten up the look with blue pumps, grey tights, and a black mini skirt and teal knitted jumper.

The bigger fashion story this season is the sheer tights. Flesh coloured tights are elegant and cover a multitude of imperfections, plus they will nicely shape your legs. They are perfect with your Christmas party dress or a skirt for any office look and you can wear them with any colour shoes. Team them up with a sequinned party dress and wine red shoes.
