Vox Merus - classical brass

VOX MERUS, Ireland’s new professional brass chamber group, will celebrate and perform classical music for brass instruments at their Galway concert next week.

Vox Merus, which translates as ‘pure voice’, will perform a concert entitled Vox Merus – Introduction to Brass at the Aula Maxima, NUI Galway, on Thursday November 24 at 8pm.

Vox Merus are Simon Menin and Andrea Vonk (trumpets ), Cormac Ó hAodáin (horn ), Steve Mathieson (trombone ), and Alex Kidston (tuba ).

Simon Menin has worked with Galway singer and composer Julie Feeney and Cleo Laine; Alex Kidston has played with nu-folk band Bellowhead; Stephen Mathieson has worked with the London Philharmonic and The Philharmonia; Cormac O hAodáin is currently principal horn with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra; and Andrea Vonk is a founding member of the International Chamber Artists of Chicago.

For their show the group will perform the premiere of ‘Five Run Away Together’ by Irish composer Daniel Barkley, as well as work by Anton Bruckner, Joseph Groocock, Daniel Barkley, Brian Boydell, and Malcolm Arnold.
