This Saturday November 12 at 8pm the annual Clifden Fashion Show takes place in the Station House Theatre. This year’s chosen charity is the local Connemara branch of St Vincent de Paul. A night of fun and fashion is promised with special guest Mary Kennedy of RTE on hand to add even more style and panache to the occasion.
Last year’s show was a great success so there is no shortage of local volunteers willing to sashay down the catwalk in aid of this year’s worthy cause. The show will showcase a wide selection accessories, ladies’, menswear and children’s wear all provided by local retailers. Local hairdressers and beauticians are providing their services on the night to ensure that ‘Connemara’s Top Models’ are styled from head to toe. A variety of other local businesses from the Connemara area have donated raffle prizes for the night or donated money for the charity.
St Vincent De Paul relies greatly on the work of volunteers and donations from the public in order to provide much needed services to those in need in local communities. A spokesperson for the Connemara St Vincent De Paul group advised that they are honoured to have been chosen as this year’s charity and hopes that the night will be a great success.
Chairperson of the Clifden Retail Group Joe Lynch commended all those who have contributed to the show.
‘'In these challenging times it is heartening to see a strong community spirit in Clifden and Connemara and we are very grateful to all the businesses who have committed to supporting this worthy cause. The proceeds will go to St Vincent de Paul to distribute to those in need locally. We hope the variety of fashion and accessories on display will encourage people to shop locally in the run up to Christmas.
Tickets cost €10 and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available in Hehir’s, Millars & Gannon Sports. Those attending will also receive discount vouchers for local businesses which is just one initiative being organised by fashion show organisers Clifden Retail Group in a bid to encourage people to spend in their local area.
