Galway kickboxers all winners at international

Galway kickboxers achieved a 100 per cent success at the recent IKF sanctioned international kickboxing promotion in Portlaoise.

Three boxers from the Galway Black Dragon Club, Charlie Ward from Castle Park, Eric Daly from Gort and Cathal Manning from Rahoon, featured in the main event, an Ireland v France team competition.

Ward, who is the current IKF All Ireland and Five Nations champion, faced Jason Decante in a scheduled four rounder in a fast-paced bout between two very technichal fighters, but it was Ward who took a well-deserved unanimous decision over the French fighter.

Recently crowned IKF European super lightweight champion Eric Daly overcame seasoned French fighter Eric Tacconi by unanimous decision, while the IKF World light heavyweight champion Cathal Manning enjoyed a knockout victory over Frances Anthony Pinto.

Also on the card was Gary Giles from Claregalway who took on Limerick fighter Carl Domiceo in a scheduled three-rounder. Giles stopped his opponent in the third round in one of the most exciting fights of the evening - the win bringing Giles closer to a possible Irish title fight in the new year.
