Coláiste Éinde in Salthill has announced it will send 50 students to next year’s paralympics in London. The students will get to experience the agony and the ecstasy of the event first hand, in what is sure to be a life-changing experience.
As part of the announcement, the school welcomed CEO of Paralympics Ireland Liam Harbison and London-bound 2012 Paralympic athlete Enda Smith. The men were greeted by students from various school programmes such as transition year, the civic, social and political programme, the Leaving Certificate vocational programme, and the Junior Certificate schools’ programme, underlining Colaiste Einde’s cross-curricular approach to raising awareness of disability.
The school believes this is an excellent occasion in which to celebrate and promote disability within both the school and the wider community. Colaiste Einde will be holding a series of exciting fundraising initiatives for Paralympics Ireland over the course of the year.
