NUIG launches ‘Socs in the city’ fashion extravaganza

The NUIG ‘Socs and the city fashion show’ will be held in the Radisson Blu Hotel on November 17. The venue’s Aran ballroom promises to be a picture of beauty with NUIG students strutting their stuff displaying the latest trends from a number of Galway shops.

This year’s theme is edgy rock and the event is organised by the Rotaract society in NUIG. Rotaract is an international organisation, with thousands of members who collaborate on a regular basis. The society’s motto is ‘Service Above Self,’ an objective it obtains through service projects, event organisation and its members addressing the communities’ physical and social needs.

The 42 male and female models will be joined by Georgia Salpa and fellow model, TV personality, and former NUIG student Daniella Moyles. The event will commence with entertainment from NUIG student Laura and well- known band The Supernovas will take to the stage during the interval.

A raffle will take place also on the night with prizes donated by local shops and businesses. Prizes range from technology to trips away, vouchers and much much more. Tickets are on sale in the students’ union Socs box and from all members of the Rotaract society. The after party will be held in the Radisson’s live lounge, with entry included with each ticket.

The fashion show is the society’s biggest autumn fundraiser and the money raised this year is in aid of Cope Galway.
