Turn Galway green for Connacht

Connacht Rugby is calling on all rugby fans and businesses to turn the province green in support of its first home Heineken Cup fixture against European giants Toulouse next week.

The club is asking everyone to dress their homes, schools and places of work with the green of Connacht, particularly on the route it has identified as the “Green Mile” - the route that runs from Blackrock in Salthill through to the Spanish Arch, Quay Street, Eyre Square, Forster Street; College Road to the Sportsground and down to the Huntsman Inn.

The aim, says Connacht marketing manager Fiona Keys, is “to make this area scream green for Connacht Rugby”.

“The route gives supporters ownership of Connacht Rugby way beyond the gates of the Sportsground. Display the green and show your support by uploading your pictures, videos and messages to the Connacht Rugby Facebook page. The best 100 pictures will be selected for posters to be erected to line the Green Mile.”

Television crews and photographers are expected to flood into the city next week for this David v Goliath fixture, and Keys says it gives business owners a “great chance to show their support for Connacht Rugby on an international stage”.

Connacht Rugby also hopes the “Green Mile” will extend beyond the city to every town and village during the Heineken Cup.
