Seamus Kelleher @ Monroe’s Live

GALWAY BORN, US based guitarist Seamus Kelleher will play Monroe’s Live this Sunday at 8pm with all proceeds going to the Galway Hospice.

Inspired by Rory Gallagher and Jimi Hendrix, Seamus started playing guitar when he was 14 ands later formed the band Skull, who did several shows with Thin Lizzy.

Moving to New York in 1975, Seamus studied guitar at the American Institute of Guitar and the Mannes School of Music, later working for many years with Sean Fleming.

Seamus was also a member of Philadelphia’s Blackthorn with whom he recorded three albums. He has also recorded two solo albums.

For his Monroe’s gig Seamus will be joined by Sean O’Healy, the director of the Hospice, on keyboards; Damien Hanley (guitar ); Dec Folan (guitar and bass ), and Cor Folan (drums ).

“This show at Monroe’s is very special,” says Seamus. “Sean O’Healy is a tremendous musician. This is a celebration of all Sean and his team have accomplished over the past several years in the most difficult economic circumstances. The Hospice is a tremendous facility.”
