The Molly Hicks and Americana month @ Campbell’s

THE MOLLY Hicks will bring the sounds of Appalachian, bluegrass, country and gospel music to the Campbell’s Tavern, Cloughanover this Saturday at 9.30pm.

The band is Ruth Dillon (vocals/guitar ), Bernie O’Mahony (vocals/guitar ), Peter Akerstrom (vocals/guitar ), Geoff Ward (mandolin ), Juliana Erkonen (fiddle, ) and Paul O’Driscoll (bulldog bass ).

The Molly Hicks have been described by The Irish Times’ Siobhan Long as “a thing of great beauty...their voices communing with the seamlessness of Emmylou Harris and Alison Krauss”.

Campell’s Americana month

The show is part of Campbell’s Americana Music & Arts Month for November. Tonight at 10pm there will be a country/bluegrass session with Noelie & Gert; on Sunday at 9pm it’s the Rockin’ Fury’s Jivin’ Jamboree, for a night of 1950s style fun; on Wednesday Glor Tíre will be shown live on the big screen at 10.30pm; on Thursday 17 there will be a line dancing class at 8.30pm. All levels welcome, and a country/bluegrass session with Noelie & Gert at 10pm.

The Harvest Stone Band will play songs by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, etc, on Friday 18 at 10pm; on Sunday 20 at 8pm Mike Henderson will give an introduction to Native American traditions.

On Thursday 24 at 8.30pm, Mogs McDonnell will host a quilting workshop and at 10pm Noelie & Gert have their country/bluegrass session. On Saturday 26 at 10pm it is Mr Williams Goodtime String Band Thanksgiving ‘Hootenanny’; and on Sunday 27 at 8.30pm The Midnight Cowboys will play a special gig.
