Ryan Sheridan - Róisín gig and PLAY IRISH

RYAN SHERIDAN, the Monaghan singer-songwriter who captured public attention with his song ‘Jigsaw’, is coming back to Galway to play the Róisín Dubh.

Ryan will play the Róisín on Friday November 25 at 9pm and ‘Jigsaw’ will be this week’s PLAY IRISH chosen track, so listen out for it on Jon Richard’s Galway Bay FM show and for a video of the song on the Galway Advertiser Facebook page.

‘Jigsaw’s driving, percussive guitar style and declaration of “I got lost to find my way/Still I’m standing in the dark/With the one hand holding on to night/And one to day” revealed a mixture of frustration and defiance Ryan felt as he was struggling to make his way as a musician.

“Nothing was happening to me at that point when I was writing the song,” Ryan told me when I interviewed him earlier this year. “I wanted to play music and was having to work to pay rent. Iit was a battle of thoughts in my head, hence it’s called ‘Jigsaw’ as I was trying to put all the pieces of my life together.”

Since then he has enjoyed acclaim for his album The Day You Live Forever which went Top 5 and was certified with gold sales after five weeks. Ryan will be releasing an EP on November 25, a special limited edition of The Day You Live Forever, and a cover of ‘Walking In The Air’ as a charity single for Make-A-Wish Ireland.

Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and www.roisindubh.net
