The passion of Jonathan Swift – in Claregalway Castle

JONATHAN SWIFT has lost the love of his life, a love he never acted upon, but one that has left him melancholy.

He tries to distract himself by railing against bankers, against society, and finally against humanity in his satirical masterpiece A Modest Proposal.

This is Catastrophe theatre company’s Love & Fury - The Passion of Jonathan Swift, which will be staged in Claregalway Castle on Friday November 11 and Saturday 12.

Playing the role of the great Irish writer is David Heap, best known for his role as Donal Maher in RTÉ soap Fair City. He has also appeared in Jack Taylor on TV3 and his theatre credits include Titus Andronicus, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, and King Lear.

Irish Theatre Magazine said of his performance in Love & Fury: “David Heap’s Swift playfully engages with the audience, his long-published words tumbling out as if crafted there in the moment of utterance…an engrossing performance.”

Tickets are €15 and €12 and can be booked by phoning 091-799666.
