Get involved with Movember on our Facebook page

If it is November it means it is also Movember, the charity event where, for the month men grow moustaches to raise awareness for men’s health and funds for the Irish Cancer Society’s Action Prostate Cancer initiative.

Mo Bros, as participants are known, should be clean shaven on November 1 and as we are only three days into Movember you can still take part. For the rest of the month you can grow whatever kin of ‘tache you want. It could be in the style of Freddie Mercury, Lemmy, Salvador Dali, or even Friedrich Nietzsche.

To take part register at www.movember.com and set up a page for yourself where family can donate money which will go towards Action Prostate Cancer.

Girlfriends, sisters, and female friends can take part as well as Mo Sistas through dying their hair and helping in fundraising activities.

In 2010 Movember raised €55 million globally. Ireland’s Mo Community raised more than €1.6 million in 2010 thanks to the 12,700 Irish Mo Bros and Mo Sistas who took part.

Movember on GA Facebook page

The Galway Advertiser is keen to support awareness of Movember and to encourage people to take part.

As a result we will be setting up a photo album on our popular Facebook page for Movember photos. All Galwegians who are taking part in Movember can submit photos of themselves (or with a group of friends taking part in Movember ) to show what progress they are making with their moustaches. Mo Sistas are also welcome to submit photos of before/after hair dyes.

You can send in one of yourself clean shaven for now and then each few days, weeks, send in photos of your emerging tache.

Email photos of [email protected] and/or [email protected] and include your name and where in Galway you are from. You should also include the web address of your movember.com page so that people can click on the link and donate money towards your moustache growing efforts.
