Change of China at NUIG

THE GALWAY Irish Chinese Society will launch the Change of China photo exhibition in the atrium of NUIG’s Arts Millennium Building at 3pm tomorrow. It will be opened by the newly appointed Ambassador of China, the Mayor of Galway, and the university president, and will run until November 24.

October 10 marked the 100th anniversary of the Revolution of 1911 in China which ended 2,000 years of feudal autocratic monarchies and founded the first republic in Chinese history. The country has had a glorious history of continuous civilisation for 5,000 years, but with many trials and triumphs.

The exhibition evokes the past century with the instants of historical figures and the ordinary Chinese with a particular look at the achievements of the 30 years since the country opened to the outside world.

All are welcome to attend.
