A romantic trio of classical musicians

NICOLA BENEDETTI, the violinist and a rising star of classical music, returns to Galway to play the Aula Maxima, NUI Galway on Wednesday at 8pm.

For this show, entitled Romantic Trios, Nicola will be be joined by cellist Leonard Elschenbroich and pianist Alexei Gynyuk, and they will perform Schumann’s Three Romances, Op 94 and Piano Trio No 3 in G minor, Op 110; and Tchaikovsky’s ‘Scherzo’ and Melody from Souvenir d’un Lieu Cher, Op. 42 and Piano Trio in A minor, Op 50.

Winner of the Classical BRIT Award for Young British Classic Performer in 2008, Nicola Benedetti has released six albums, the latest being Italia, her first recording of the baroque violin repertoire.

Leonard Elschenbroich has been widely regarded as one of the most important and original cellists of his generation. He is the winner of the Borletti-Buitoni-Trust the Leonard Bernstein Award. British-Ukrainian pianist Alexei Grynyuk is at home playing classical, romantic, and 20th-Century music.

Audiences will have the chance to meet the musicians with an informal discussion from 7pm to 7.30pm on the night of the concert.
