A new state-of-the-art all-weather sports facility recently opened in the grounds of Liam Mellows GAA Club at Ballyloughane in Renmore.
Astrobay is the name of the new facility, and it consists of three astro turf pitches each measuring 35m x 25m. Two of the pitches can be opened up into a larger playing area measuring 50m x 35m, suitable for team training. The larger playing area also includes a 4m high x 50m wide hurling wall. Shower and changing facilities are available for the casual and team orientated users.
Current activities at Astrobay include Peil Abu on Mondays from 8pm to 9.15pm and Camán Abu on Wednesdays from 8pm to 9pm.
Astrobay also caters for children's parties, with its own sports-themed parties called AstroKidz.
The facility is open to the general public seven days a week until 10pm.
