Lacemaking in Ireland will be the subject of the first in a series of public lectures, entitled Uncovering Local History in South Galway, which begin next week.
The 2011 series of talks will be held at The Old Schoolhouse Restaurant, Clarinbridge (courtesy of Basilico ), at 7.30pm this Tuesday and every Tuesday until December 6.
Other subjects to be discussed at upcoming talks will include Rahasane turlough, Woodville House, Island Eddy, fairs of Loughrea, tracing our emigrants, the IHS tiles of Galway, and the maritime mysteries of Galway Bay.
Admission to all talks is free.
