Galway firm MCS Kenny, based in Galway Technology Park, Parkmore, has won the medium-sized category of the prestigious Engineers Ireland Continuing Professional Development Company of the Year title.
The company has won the award for using CPD to developed internal programmes to provide an ongoing supply of highly knowledgeable engineers to its expanding network of global offices.
The awards, now in their eighth year, assess which organisations use CPD to improve performance, by breaking into new markets, developing new products, and innovating with cutting-edge technologies.
Speaking after the awards, John Power, director general of Engineers Ireland, said: “The CPD standard recognises companies and organisations which implement specific continuing professional development policies to support their engineers and technical staff. Through the use of internally developed training and employee competency framework systems, MCS Kenny has successfully managed its rapidly growing business in a field unique within Ireland.”
Over the past five years MCS Kenny Galway had developed internal programmes to allow the company provide an ongoing supply of highly knowledgeable engineers to its expanding network of global offices while maintaining the correct profile within Galway to support its own growing customer base and range of service offerings, Mr Power said.
Other groups to receive awards included OpenHydro, Louth, in the overall category; Jennings O’Donovan & Partners, Sligo, in the small-sized category; Farrans Construction, Belfast, in the large-sized category; and Cavan County Council was honoured in the public sector category.
