Mirakil Whip to bring the Alternate Frequencies to Galway

Music, art, and animation, the aural and the visual, will collide and coalesce in Alternate Frequencies, a new music concert and video art night in the Nuns Island Theatre.

The first Alternate Frequencies takes place on Saturday at 9pm and will feature Mirakil Whip, Jimmy The Hideous Penguin, and The Hollows in concert. While playing, they will project their own style of film/animation/stills to accompany their music.

Mirakil Whip are Galwegians Annemarie Deacy and Aaron Coyne, who have impressed with their mix of electronica and guitar drones/riffs. Their sound is in a constant state of evolution though and Saturday’s show will feature more instruments including chime bars, banjo, accordion, synth, live sampling hardware, pedals, and dual vocals.

Jimmy The Hideous Penguin has played support to Edan, Buck 65, and Saul Williams. He has also performed as turntable quartet Vince Mack Mahon with Deviant, Mikey Fingers, and Tweek. He is also apart of the Community Scratch Games collective.

Dublin’s The Hollows blend of folk, pop, and electronica. The duo will release their new EP Broken Notes For Winter Homes in late November.

Admission is €10. Tickets are limited and will be available on the door and from the Galway Arts Centre. For more information contact 086 - 2100723.
