Kilcoona National School receives Baboró award

THE FIRST recipient of the new Baboró International Arts Festival for Children Above and Beyond Award is Kilcoona National School near Headford.

The award was created by Baboró to recognise inspiring individuals, organisations, or communities that create opportunities for children to access the arts.

Kilcoona NS has been recognised this year thanks to the contribution both teachers and parents have made to ensure pupils have access to the arts through the creation of a school library, a string quartet, and wall-to-wall artwork created by the pupils.

The award was presented to the school by Baboró programme director Lali Morris on Monday.

The school has been working for the past number of weeks to create and present its own exhibition for Baboró. Pupils work will be on display at the Town Hall Theatre, the Black Box Theatre, Nuns Island Theatre, and Druid Lane Theatre throughout the festival.
