POET AND VISUAL artist Amit Mediratta will launch his new collection of poetry, Ecstatic Flights/Manhattan Nights in Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop tomorrow at 6pm.
For the last number of years, Amit has been best known as a visual artist, having exhibited widely in Galway and around Ireland. His paintings can be seen at The Kenny Gallery.
Ecstatic Flights/Manhattan Nights collects Amit’s poems from his previous 10 self-published collections. The poems from the Ecstatic Flights section were written from 2005 to 2009 and deal with memories and experience from the poet’s adolescence, while Manhattan Nights comprises “a series of urban vignettes, in celebration of the city as metaphor for uninhibited exultation in life”.
