A NIGHT of rock’n’roll, rockabilly, and country music is on the cards in Campbell’s Tavern, Cloughanover, when Joe Fury & the Hayride launch their debut album.
Hey! Hey! Hey! by the Galway/Mayo based Joe Fury & the Hayride features the band’s ‘Red hot rootsabilly’ style, which incorporates rockabilly, country boogie, and a bit of bluegrass.
The Saw Doctors Leo Moran has praised the album, saying: “Anyone who claims not to like rockabilly can’t be fully right; when it’s done with great skill it sounds simple, melodic, and beautiful, it makes you smile and want to move, that’s exactly what Joe Fury & The Hayride’s Hey! Hey! Hey! achieves.
“Apart from being well able to sing the songs, Joe’s heart and soul is right in there, as is the passion and expertise of his band, delving into the rich history of rockabilly, country and bluegrass and making it fresh, again and again.”
The launch gig for the album takes place this Saturday at 8.30pm. Special guests on the night include folk/trad singer-songwriter Noriana Kennedy, Fran Sarsfield & the Nervous Breakdowns, and the DJ queen of rock’n’roll and rockabilly, Kit Kola.
