New committee for Galway Greens

The Green Party in Galway has elected a new committee to focus attention locally on issues such as democracy, the environment, food, natural resources, social justice, and transportation.

The elected committee is former senator Niall Ó Brolcháin, Peter Butler, Donal Chambers, Caoimhín Ó Maolallaigh, Bréandan MacGabhann, Henrike Rau, and Catherine Swift.

Peter Butler, local spokesperson for the Green Party, said such issues “are of special importance in Galway where so many jobs are dependent on tourism”.

“The evidence is there already that these are not very high on the priority list for the Government, nationally or locally,” he said. “Our goal is to mobilise support around these issues, for this generation and for the future generations.”
