A 21-year-old Clonboo woman has been remanded in custody for burglary and car theft charges.
Orla Conaty with an address at Clonboo, Corrandulla appeared before Galway District Court on Monday charged with burglary at 32 River Oaks, Claregalway, and the unauthorised taking of an MPV on July 2, 2011.
Inspector Ernie White told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed trial by indictment in the matter. He then requested that the case be adjourned to allow time for the service of the book of evidence.
Defence solicitor Olivia Traynor said that Conaty, who had been refused bail in the High Court, consents to a further remand in custody for one month, however she urged the State to expedite matters.
Judge Mary Fahy remanded Conaty into further custody to appear again at Galway District Court on October 17 for service of the book of evidence.
In relation to a separate public order Conaty was fined €300 for failing to comply with garda directions at the Church of Resurrection, Ballinfoyle, Headford Road, on May 14, 2011. The court heard that gardai had been called to a disturbance at around 3am and that Conaty had refused to leave the area and it was necessary to arrest her.
