Loughrea braced for annual 10k run

This Sunday Loughrea Athletic Club will be holding its annual Grey Lake 10k Road Race. Starting near the tennis club on the Gort road and finishing at St Brendan’s Cathedral on Barrack Street, the route comprises a lap of the famous Grey Lake.

Last year a huge crowd descended on Loughrea for this annual event which is growing from strength to strength. Loughrea AC is hoping for a strong turnout again for this year’s race. Every year the club is grateful for the participation from all the neighbouring clubs as well as the many locals who decide to take on the challenge of this famous lap.

The day has something for all the family with more than 500 children taking part in the junior fun run which sees children of all ages running the 1km route through the streets of Loughrea. Temperance Hall on Barrack St will be the race day headquarters:

The junior race starts at 1.30pm with the senior decider under way at 2.30pm and entries will be taken on the day. The race is AAI approved and chip timing will be in operation.
