Ecumenical service for deceased patients of Galway Hospitals

An Ecumenical Memorial Service for deceased patients of Galway University Hospitals will take place in the Salthill Hotel, Galway, at 2pm on Saturday September 24.

The service is being held to remember the deceased patients of GUH who passed away during the period of July 2010 to June 2011. Fr David Cribbin, Chaplain of University Hospital Galway, says: “We are holding this service in memory of deceased patients of Merlin Park University Hospital and University Hospital Galway and we welcome friends and family from Galway, Roscommon, Mayo, Clare and further afield to attend the service. The aim of the service is to give relatives and friends the opportunity to honour, love, and remember their deceased. It also affords the staff who have cared for the patients and their relatives an opportunity to acknowledge the loss and the privilege of having shared in this difficult family time.”

Rev Gary Hastings, Church of Ireland Rector, St Nicholas Church, adds: “During the service, we will share readings and music as we remember those who have died in our hospitals over the past year. There will be plenty of time to meet and chat with other families who have been bereaved, and those attending will also have the opportunity to meet with the staff who cared for their loved ones.” For further details on the Ecumenical Memorial Service, contact Adrienne in the Social Work Department, University Hospital Galway, on 091 – 544089 or RSVP to [email protected].
