Cystic fibrosis supporters bare all for charity calendar

A cheeky charity calendar featuring cystic fibrosis supporters who bravely bare all in support of the fundraising initiative was launched this week in Tuam.

The nude calendar, featuring daring men and women, and part of an initiative to raise vital funds for an outpatient respiratory clinic on the grounds of Mayo General Hospital, was launched by CFWest, the Mayo based branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland. Rugby players, footballers, firemen and musicians as well as people with cystic fibrosis and people who have a friend or relative with cystic fibrosis all feature in this fun calendar which is on sale now.

Commenting on the charity effort Caroline Heffernan representing CF West said: “We wanted to create a fun, positive fundraising initiative that would make people smile and help to raise much needed funds for an outpatient unit at Mayo General Hospital. We have a fantastic medical team there but not enough facilities. At the moment, adult patients with CF must attend the paediatric ward for routine procedures like lung function tests and port flushes for example, or alternatively, they must travel to Dublin for shared care”.

The outpatient unit will cost approximately €1 million to build. The calendar is available from the CFAI online shop at www.cfireland.ie and costs €10 or, alternatively, people can visit the Facebook page ‘Charity Calendar for Cystic Fibrosis’ for a full list of where the calendar can be purchased.
