A number of roadworks around the city will be continuing for the next few weeks, while parts of Gaol Road at the Galway Cathedral will be closed for periods of time next month.
The Galway City Council is carrying out re-surfacing on a section of the Monivea Road between the Connolly Avenue junction and the McDonagh Avenue junction. The work is due to be completed by Friday September 23.
Re-surfacing works on the Salthill Promenade/Dr Colohan Road should also be completed by September 23, after which work on the Dr Colohan Road/Whitestrand Road will commence.
Major works on the Lynch Roundabout at Briarhill will start on Monday September 26. Advance signage indicating the dates of the works will be erected in advance of the works commencing.
Parts of Gaol Road at the Galway Cathedral, will be closed at different periods until Friday October 7.
The work is in order to facilitate drainage works at the Cathedral. Access will, at all times, be available from the Salmon Weir Bridge and University Road to Nuns Island.
“The Galway City Council seeks the co-operation of the public in relation to minimising disruption which will arise as a result of the works,” a spokesperson for City Hall said. “We will endeavour to minimise such disruption and delays, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by these necessary works.”
