Hardy runners take on Thonabrucky Challenge

Despite the onset of a hurricane, the inaugural Thonabrucky Challenge took place on Sunday with nearly 200 hardy runners and walkers taking on the 6km fun run in aid of the CF UHG Hospital fund and Rathun an Chaislean Nua Hurling Club.

Lisa Regan, secretary of Rathun an Chaislean Nua, said the club hopes the event will become a permanent feature in the hurling club’s calendar.

“We were unsure in the morning if the race would go ahead, but we made a decision to go ahead in rain, hail or shine and we are so happy we did. Everyone that took part really enjoyed the route and the event.”
