Gardaí are investigating a number of thefts which occurred in the city in the last week.
The first of these incidents occurred on the Salmon Weir Bridge at around 4pm on Wednesday September 7. A man tried to steal a SatNav from a woman’s backpack as she was walking on the bridge. He then ran off in the direction of Nuns’ Island.
This man is described as five feet five inches tall, of medium build, with sallow skin. He wore a green zip top, dark jeans, white runners, and possibly a rucksack.
The following day, Thursday, a woman reported an attempted robbery on University Road. The woman felt a tug on her handbag, and looked around to find a man with his hand in her bag. The man then ran off. He is described as five feet seven inches tall, of slim build, with a dark complexion. He wore a navy hoodie and dark jeans. He is believed to be in his early twenties.
Two wing mirrors were stolen from a silver Ford Transit parked at Wellpark Grove last week. This occurred between 9.30pm on Thursday September 8 and 8.30am the following day.
A group of youths stole a Samsung mobile phone from a student at the weekend. The student was with a group of friends when they were approached by four teenagers, one of whom stole the phone. The teenagers were 16 or 17 years old, and wore grey, black, and white jackets. One of them was tall and thin, and had a piercing over his eye.
