Salthill hope for change in fortune

Salthill Devon will be hoping for a change in fortune when hosting Waterford United at Drom on Saturday evening.

Comprehensively defeated by Monaghan United last time out, Salthill's team did feature a string of youngsters in that encounter so Paul McGee will be eager they can develop quickly. Ronan Burke, Cian Fadden, Ronan Conlon, Brian Gaffney, and Jason Lyons are all promising footballers, while the return of midfielder Robbie Porter adds a bit of quality too.

Level on points with Wexford Youths, Salthill will be especially keen to take something from the Waterford clash as only nine matches remain.

Mervue United could do Salthill a significant favour on Friday too if they eke out a victory in Ferrycarrig.

Johnny Glynn's charges were outfoxed by a clinical Shelbourne outfit at Fahy's Field as the table-toppers nicked goals at the end of both halves.

In between strikes from Lorcan Fitzgerald and Philly Hughes Mervue had shown the necessary commitment, but they failed to convert their chances.

Earlier in the campaign Mervue secured a smashing win in the southeast so Ger Hanley, James Casserly, Martin Conneely, John Moutney, Alex Lee, and Etanda Nkololo will be striving to recapture the dash shown against Shels.
