The Heart of Galway are back in the final after a narrow one-point victory (1-08 to 1-07 ) over reigning champions Hanley Eng of Roscommon in the Connacht interfirms senior championship semi-final at Tarmonbarry.They now meet the winners of the second semi-final between County Council (Sligo ) and Allergan (Mayo ).
Hanley Eng started brightly with a Declan Meehan goal after he beat Galway teammate Paul Doherty from close range. However it was Heart of Galway who were on top for the remainder of the half, although they led by just one at the break, 0-06 to 1-02.
The second half, a lively affair, was decided by the all-important goal from Seamie Crowe. Despite Hanley’s best efforts, Heart Of Galway held on for a narrow victory. Best for the Galway boys were Paul Doherty in goal, Tony Og Regan in defence, and Seamie Crowe, Andrew Keane, and Ray Conneely in attack.
