THE CHATHAM Saxophone Quartet will perform its debut Galway concert in the Town Hall Theatre Studio on Tuesday September 6 at 1.10pm.
The quartet - Daniel Dunne, Darren Hatch, Ciaran Sutton and Louis Boland - were selected to be the Galway Music Residency Apprentice Ensemble in the 2011/12 season. The quartet is working under the guidance of the ConTempo Quartet.
For this lunchtime show the Chatham Saxophone Quartet will perform Eugene Bozza’s Andante et Scherzo; Anton Webern’s Langsamer Satz; JacobTV’s ‘Jesus Is Coming’; and a movement from Philip Glass’s Saxophone Quartet.
The quartet was founded by four students studying at the DIT Conservatory of Music. They have a particular interest in transcribing string quartet repertoire for saxophone.
The concert will end at 1.50pm. Admission is free but early arrival is advised.
