IRISH/CANADIAN band Nightbox and Dublin/US band Favourite Sons play Strange Brew at the Róisín Dubh tonight from 10pm.
The five-piece Nightbox were all born in Ireland but are now based in Toronto and their music encompasses punchy bass, chiming guitar, and dynamic synth, often girded with a four-to-the-floor kick drum.
The band released their debut EP in February this year, which was recorded by MSTRKRFT’s AL-P and Death From Above 1979’s Sebastien Grainger.
Favourite Sons is led by Ken Griffin who many would remember from his days with Rollerskate Skinny. The band is Griffen, Matthew Werth, Justin Tripp, and AJ Edmiston and they are currently promoting their latest album, The Great Deal Of Love, which has been showered with praise by critics; “a real and brilliant grower,” said the Irish Independent while Metro called the album “sublime”.
Admission is free.
