The first County Mayor’s Awards for Galway are to be held in November of this year and as part of this Galway County Council is seeking nominations for the award of Volunteer of the Year 2011.
County Mayor Cllr Michael Maher has expressed his delight at hosting the event and commented: “2011 is the European Year for Volunteering so it is particularly fitting that we would seek nominations for Volunteer of the Year. There are so many people in County Galway that give their time to volunteering and their contribution must be acknowledged and celebrated.”
If you know of someone in your community who has made a valuable voluntary contribution during 2011, please nominate them. Closing date for receiving nomination forms is September 9 at 4pm.
