Racing back in Ballybrit this weekend

Just a month after the immensely successful summer festival, racing returns to Ballybrit this weekend. The autumn meeting kicks off on Saturday with the first race going to post at 2.55pm. The action will commence at Sunday at 2.25pm, with Monday’s evening meeting getting under way at 4.20pm.

There are 21 races over the three days, all racing on Saturday and Sunday will be National Hunt while Monday’s will be on the flat. The feature race on Saturday is The Deacy Gilligan Novice Steeplechase, Sunday features The Guinness Handicap Steeplechase, while Monday sees the running of The Ardilaun Hotel Oyster Stakes Race. There is an impressive total prize fund of €350,000 on offer, which is sure to attract runners from many of Ireland’s top stables, while all races are sponsored by local firms.

Patrons can enjoy all the wonderful facilities on offer at the Galway racecourse, seating balconies, excellent food, bar and tote facilities. Car parking for this meeting is free as are children under 14, and there is a guaranteed jackpot each day of €5,000. The admission fee is €15 each day, with a discounted price on production of current ID for students and OAPs available.

Saturday, presents the opportunity to avail of the special barbecue package that includes general admission, a barbecue meal, a €5 drink voucher, a €5 tote voucher, and entertainment after racing with Jimmy Norman of Galway Bay FM, all for just €30.
