Volkswagen Ireland announced it will be the official motor partner of the Irish Rugby Football Union in a new deal until 2016.
This partnership is in addition to Volkswagen’s existing relationship with Leinster Rugby. The partnership also includes supporting the IRFU tag rugby programme.
As rugby reaches fever pitch in September, Volkswagen will host a series of Breakfast Roadshows prior to the games within various Volkswagen retailers across the country. These unique events will give Volkswagen customers the chance to watch the games with selected rugby heroes.
The Breakfast Roadshow will also include a competition in whichVolkswagen customers will be in with the chance to bring five friends to an upcoming match involving one of Volkswagen’s brand ambassadors.
Speaking of the announcement, Adam Chamberlain, Volkswagen's head of sales and marketing, said: “Volkswagen and the IRFU are an excellent fit, particularly given our existing relationship with Leinster Rugby. We’re excited to be supporting such a great team of players who have brought such happiness to many of our customers in the past. And as rugby fever gets set to grip the world, we’re looking forward to being part of another great rugby adventure.”
Adding to this, Pat Fitzgerald, chairman of the IRFU’s commercial and marketing committee, said: “We at the IRFU are delighted to be entering into this relationship with Volkswagen. The Irish rugby brand is currently very strong and this partnership will create a sports marketing platform which I am sure will be mutually beneficial to both organisations. We very much look forward to working together over the next few seasons.”
