There is now just under a month to go until the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Ireland Triathlon race takes place in Salthill, and the organisers are looking for members of the public to get involved as volunteers.
The event will also see a number of people taking part to raise funds for the two charity partners Croí - West of Ireland and Irish Autism Action with a number of well known television, radio and music personalities participating in the event including Keith Duffy, Ray D’Arcy, Jenny Kelly, Brian Kennedy, Grainne Seoige and Kathryn Thomas to raise awareness and much needed funds for the charities.
“As you can imagine an event of this magnitude requires a large support and volunteer crew to ensure its success,” says Eoin McCormack of E&R Events Ltd, the local organisers of the event.
Marianne Moran, the Volunteer Co-ordinator, added: “We are delighted with the volunteer response received so far and we have had great support from local communities like Moycullen and Oughterard but we still require some more volunteers to help out over the course of the weekend. We are looking for volunteers aged 16 and over for various roles including registration, helpdesk, feed stations and marshalling on Sunday September 4, with some volunteers also needed on the Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday.
All volunteers will be supported by team leaders and trained support crew on all days. All volunteers will receive a commemorative t-shirt, food, and drink and an invitation to the volunteer after party in the Galway Bay Hotel.
