Gardaí appeal for information following burglaries

Gardaí have appealed to the public for information on several burglaries which have taken place around Galway this month.

The first of these occurred on Tuesday August 2, when Glynn’s Centra in Carnmore was broken into between 11pm and 11.30pm. Two men forced the door into the front porch of the premises but failed to gain entry into the shop. They left the area in a blue Volkswagen Caddy van with a roof rack.

The Galway Bay Sailing Club compound was broken into between 10pm on Wednesday August 3 and 10am on Thursday August 4. A boat engine was taken from the compound.

A premises at Oldenway Business Park in Ballybrit was burgled between 7.30pm on Thursday August 4 and 3.30am on Friday August 5. The metal shutter of the premises was forced open and a number of electrical items were stolen from the shop.

On the same night, between 9pm and 1am, a burglary occurred at a premises in Castle Park, Ballybane. Thieves gained entry to the building by breaking a rear window, and stole a large sum of money.

A house in The Meadows, Ballybrit, was also burgled on the night of August 4 and 5, with thieves entering through a ground floor window and making off with a laptop and a sum of cash.

A house in Merlin Park was burgled on the night of Friday August 5 or the early hours of Saturday August 6. The house was unlocked, and someone entered and stole a handbag and a sum of money.

A house in Rosán Glas, Rahoon, was broken into in the early hours of Saturday August 6. The culprits entered the house through a front window between 5am and 8am. A silver Ford Focus, registration 02 G 1323, was then stolen from outside the house.

On Sunday night last, two men were spotted attempted to break into a house at Gort Gréine, Rahoon, at around 11.30pm. They were disturbed and fled in a maroon coloured car with a 97 registration.
