Kinvara Market relocation campaign to kick off next week

Kinvara Farmers’ Market will hold a special market day on Friday August 12 when the market will move from its usual location of Johnston’s Garden, Main Street to the main square in Kinvara at the start of the annual Cruinnui na mBad Festival.

There will be the usual excellent food and craft stalls, live music and festive spirit to celebrate the operation of the market in what should be its natural home - Market Square.

A Market Charter was given to Mr St George in the 12th century, granting the people the right to hold a market on a Friday in the square. The Charter still stands today and was the inspiration for the revival of a market in Kinvara in 2009 which is now an intrinsic part of Kinvara life.

However, it is unlikely the social and convivial setting of Johnston’s Garden will be available in the future and the Farmers’ Market needs to secure a new location to survive. The obvious answer is the Market Square.

Canvassing and discussions are ongoing to permanently secure the Market Square location and your support and encouragement are fundamental to its success. Get along and join in this homecoming celebration on Friday, 12th August 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. See you at the market.
