Expect pounding heaviness from Italy’s The Secret

TRIESTE IN northern Italy in best known to the Irish as the city where James Joyce spent time, writing part of what would become Ulysses.

Irish music fans will have a chance to see some of the city’s native talent when Trieste band The Secret bring their crust/grind, primitive black metal, dark soundscapes, and monolithic riffs to the ‘Us Vs Them Presents...’ show at the Róisín Dubh on Monday at 8.30pm.

The band released their debut album Luce in 2003 and followed this up with Disintoxication in 2008. Their most recent album is Solve et Coagula, on the Southern Lords label, in which the band dissect their loss of faith in the social system, religion, personal redemption and every institution.

Also on the bill are American band Tombs, Galway hardcore band Neifenbach, and Dublin’s Drainland. Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and www.roisindubh.net
